Hasselbeck, 37, had joined the Titans in July 2011 after several years with the Seattle Seahawks, and in 2011 he lead the Titans to a 9-7 record, narrowly missing the playoffs in his first season with the team.
Hasselbeck began the 2012 season as a backup to starter Jake Locker, but after Locker was injured early in the year, Hasselbeck took over the starting job.
In 2011, Hasselbeck passed for 3,571 yards – the fourth-highest passing total in franchise history and the third-highest of his career – with 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Then – with appearances in eight games, including five starts in 2012 – Hasselbeck passed for 1,367 yards and seven touchdowns in 2012.
Overall, Hasselbeck has 14 years of NFL experience and has thrown for 34,517 yards and 201 touchdowns during his career.
