Grass Burns 20 Acres

A call went out to New Union Fire Department at 3:30pm Sunday afternoon to respond to a grass fire on Blue Roof Lane off Hwy 280. Upon arrival New Union realized that they would have a hard time handling the quickly spreading fire and asked for U.S. Forestry to assist. Later they called for Cannon County’s Midway Fire Department for assistance. The fire burned about twenty acres of grass lands and went into the woods setting several trees on fire.
The burned out land is owned by Steve Parks. The cause of the fire was unknown.
