Money Talk Concerning Coffee County EMS

During a recent meeting of the county Budget and Finance Committee money issues for the Coffee County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) was the topic of discussion. While the EMS is now under the direction of Scott Cooper, the budget amendments needed were largely due to previous decisions made by the outgoing director and the Ambulance Authority.
There was a request for a transfer of $10,200 for unused vacation pay to the outgoing EMS director, John Cathey. The finance committee chairman expressed his concerns that such a large, previously unfunded payment was being made to an outgoing retiree. The ambulance authority is also planning to use $23,000 of its remaining salary budget to pay for several small hourly raises for their remaining employees who had not yet received a raise.
