Funeral services for Mrs. Gloria “Bama” Brown, age 86, of Manchester will be conducted Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Thaddeus Ashby officiating.
Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 25, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brown passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
She was born September 17, 1926 in Chartowska Russia/Algrange, France, the daughter of the late Eugene Swirsky and Xenia Kramarewska Swirsky. Upon coming to the United States in her early 20’s, Gloria, who was quite petite in stature, was employed as a skilled welder. She and her late husband, Herbert N. Brown relocated to Manchester from Detroit, Michigan in 1986. For many years, they owned and operated Auto Trim Mart. While in Manchester, she enjoyed bowling with friends in the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday bowling leagues. She was a wonderful, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved spending time caring for her family. She also enjoyed knitting, reading and crocheting. One of her favorite past times was taking trips to Tunica and playing the slot machines. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Manchester.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert N. Brown on September 1, 1997; a son-in-law, George Elm; a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Martinsen and siblings, Oleg Swirsky and Gogga Swirsky.
Survivors include two loving daughters, Kisa Camfield and husband, Ron of Manchester; and Rebecca Elm also of Manchester; three grandchildren, Amanda Elm Brewer, Jessica Camfield Turner and Amber Camfield Bunch; six great-grandchildren, Tiffany McCormick, Dylan McCormick, Ben Brewer, Lilly Brewer, Chloe Turner and Makenzie Bunch and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
