The Tullahoma Utilities Board (TUB) will soon launch a major construction project to upgrade the sewer system in three of the city’s subdivisions. The TUB board voted last week to award a contract in the amount of $4.6 million to Moore Construction Company to reline or replace sewer lines in the Sherwood, Westwood and Westside subdivisions.
The project will be funded through a $5 million state revolving fund loan, and calls for the replacement or relining of hundreds of feet of sewer pipe, along with repairs to manholes to stop infiltration and overlaying the affected streets with asphalt once the sewer work is done. While the scope of the project is extensive, officials with the utility say the traffic disruption caused by the construction should be less than previous projects since it won’t involve as much excavation thanks to “no-dig technology.”
