Double-Murder Trial Underway

Marcus Wade

The double murder trial of a Winchester man got underway yesterday in Coffee County Circuit Court with testimony being presented.
43 year old Marcus Wade is accused of murdering Tim Gill and Ricky Elliott in a motel room on North Jackson Street Oct. 30, 2010.
Jason Kennedy, a Manchester police officer and a former Tullahoma investigator, spent the day on the witness stand talking about what he and other investigators saw when they arrived at the motel in 2010. Kennedy talked also about the progression of the investigation of the double murder. He explained that he and TBI Agent Kendall Barham interviewed Wade while he was being held in the Franklin County Jail. Kennedy stated that Wade first told them that he did not know the two men who Assistant District Attorney Jason Ponder called in opening statements as police informants in drug activity in Franklin County. But Kennedy testified that Wade and Elliott spoke some 23 times on the night of Oct. 29 and early morning hours of the 30th (the time that they were murdered).
Kennedy testified that Wade told him that he would not hurt anyone unless they hurt his family and that the 2 men worked with police to catch Wade’s nephew selling drugs.
Testimony continues today in Coffee County Circuit Court.
