2/16/13 — Richard Macy Wright

Mr. Richard Macy Wright, age 90, of Manchester, TN passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Bailey Manor in Manchester, TN.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM from Meyers Brothers Colonial Chapel, Sioux City, IA with interment to follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Mr. Wright was a former longtime resident of Sioux City, IA.

He was born June 6, 1922 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of the late Elmer Macy Wright and Petra Brown Wright.

A few years after graduation from high school, Richard entered the United States Army February 23, 1943 serving during World War II.  He was honorably discharged January 8, 1946 with the rank of Sgt.  After the war, he was employed at a radio station in Sioux City and then began his career with KTIV-TV in 1954.  He retired as a Studio Supervisor in 1987.  Richard was a lifelong Ham Radio operator and also enjoyed woodworking.  He was a Christian man who was devoted to his family.  Upon moving to Manchester in 1987 to be closer to his daughter, he attended Christian Life Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his four children, Janice Ludvigson Wright; his second wife, Lois Murray Wright and a sister, Alice Wright Behrens.

Survivors include four children, Richard Alan Wright and wife, Holly of Sioux City, IA; Cheryl Skuya and husband, Daniel of Manchester, TN; Derald Wright and wife, Audrey of Rose Hill, KS; and Cindy Phillips and husband, Jamie of Spirit Lake, IA; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Loren Behrens of Columbia, MO.
