Testimony will be allowed to be entered of gang activity of a man accused of killing two others in a Tullahoma motel room in Oct. 30, 2010. The defense attorney representing Marcus Wade tried to keep his gang activity while in prison from being entered into the trial that gets underway this week in Manchester. A security official with the Tennessee Dept. of Corrections testified during motion hearings in a Coffee County Circuit Courtroom yesterday. The expert testified that prison officials determined while Wade was held in custody between 2002 and 2007 that he held a high leader position in the Vice Lord gang. Prosecutors contend that his gang activity was connected to his murdering Ricky Elliott and Tim Gill while they were staying in the Quality Inn motel in Tullahoma. The prosecutors say that they plan to introduce evidence that the gang activity was connected to the murders. Prosecutors plan to introduce evidence and learned that Wade told investigators when he was transferred to federal custody about murdering other individuals and that the murders of Gill and Elliott was different from the other murders.
Judge Craig Johnson determined after hearing arguments that he would allow testimony about the gang activity.
Today jury selection process is being made and the trial is expected to begin Wednesday morning.
