The Coffee County, County-Wide, Spelling Bee was held Thursday night (February 7) at Coffee County High School. Students, grades 4 – 8, participated from all six Coffee County Elementary Schools, Coffee County Middle School, both Manchester City Elementary Schools, and Westwood Middle School. Elizabeth Proffitt, a 5th grade student from New Union Elementary, was pronounced champion. Elizabeth’s winning word was “protuberant”. Second place was awarded to Sammy Mai, Westwood Middle School 8th grader, and third place winner was Morgann Fisher, 5th grader from New Union Elementary. Elizabeth Proffitt and Sammy Mai will represent Coffee County in the 2013 Middle Tennessee Regional Spelling Bee March 20, 2013, at MTSU, Murfreesboro, TN.
