Coffee County welcomed the 1993 Lady Raider state championship team to the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium on Friday night as they played host to White County in the regular season finale. The Lady Raiders flew out to a 25 to 14 lead at the half only to see White County tie it at the end of regulation from the free throw line. White County outscored the Lady Raiders 24 to 13 in the 4th quarter and overtime to get the 50 to 45 win. Coffee County was led in scoring by Alaina Lusk who scored 16 points. Ginny Claybourne added 14 points and Missy Jones and Michaela Gregory each netted 5. Alaina Lusk was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game. The Lady Raiders regular season record finishes at 14 and 13 on the year and 5 and 3 in district play.
The Red Raiders overcame six 1st quarter turnovers to shock district leading White County 51 to 36. Coach Scott Givens made the decision to slow down the tempo against the explosive Warriors and the Raiders used a 15 to 3 scoring advantage in the 2nd quarter to take a 9 point lead into the locker room at halftime. The Raiders continued to grow the lead in the 2nd half leading by as many as 23 points early in the 4th quarter. Lance Chrismond led Coffee County in scoring with 21 points while Lucas Chrismond finished with 11 points. Anthony Jackson and
Brock Ivy-Bodman each added 6 pints for the victorious Raiders. Lance Chrismond was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game. With the win, the Raiders finished the regular season with an 11 and 15 record and 2 and 6 in District 6 AAA play.
The district tournament is set to begin on Thursday in Sparta and the Red Raiders will take on Warren County beginning at 7:30 PM. The Lady Raiders will take on White County on Saturday beginning at 3:00 PM.
