Coffee County Sweeps Out The Bulldogs

Coffee County hosted Smyrna on Monday night in high school basketball as the Lady Raiders and Raiders celebrated Senior Night at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium. Coach David Muckle started his 5 senior players in the girl’s game and it paid immediate dividends as senior Michaela Gregory scored nine 1st quarter points leading the Lady Raiders to an 18 to 2 lead after 1 period. Coffee County survived a physical Bulldog attack in the 2nd half to gain the 53 to 42 win. Coffee County was led in scoring by Ginny Claybourne who had 19 points and Michaela Gregory who had 11 points. Ginny and Michaela were named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Co-Players of the Game. The Lady Raiders improved their season record to 14 and 12.

The Red Raiders used a tenacious defense to make it a Senior Night sweep at “The Patch” as they defeated the Bulldogs 40 to 34. Coffee County trailed the Bulldogs by 5 at the beginning of the 4th quarter but forced some turnovers and hit their free throws to outscore the visitors by 11 points in the pivotal final frame. Lucas Chrismond nailed seven Al White Motors free throws in the 4th to pace the comeback. Lance Chrismond led Coffee County in scoring with 18 points while Lucas finished with 12 points. Lucas Chrismond was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game.
With the win, the Raiders record stands at 10-15

Coffee County will be home on Friday night for the final game of the regular season hosting White County. The 1993 Lady Raider team will be recognized between games on the 20th anniversary of Coffee County’s state basketball championship. The girl’s game will tip off at 6 PM and our broadcast begins with the Lawrence Family Motors pregame show at 5:50 here on Thunder Radio.
