2/2/13 —– Elsie “Marie” Hicks

Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie “Marie” Hicks, age 66, of Bradyville, TN will  conducted Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with  Pastor Bill Adcock officiating. 

Interment will follow at Fredonia Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Hicks passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. 

She was born December 20, 1946 in Huntland, Tennessee the daughter of the late Emmitt Shockley and Hallie Walling Shockley. 

Marie worked as a seamstress and in the food industry until retirement three years ago.  She loved spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren grow up and loving on her beloved dog, Julie. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Shockley and her step-grandson Will Hicks.

Survivors include her loving husband, Eugene C. Hicks of Bradyville; one son, George Luttrell, Jr., of Manchester; two step-sons, Terry Hicks of Lynchburg; Greg Hicks and wife, Penny of Baxter, TN; three step-daughters, Amy Hicks of Manchester; Tammy Adams and husband, David of Lynchburg; and Valerie Cawthorn and husband, Archie of Manchester; three grandchildren, Cody (Jaslyn) Luttrell, Brooke Luttrell and Cayli Luttrell, all of Lynchburg; and 5 step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly) Cordle; Casey and Jake Cooper; Douglas and Stewart Hicks; three nephews and six nieces.  Also surviving are two brothers, William Shockley of Murfreesboro, IL and David Shockley of Manchester; and three sisters, Sue Jennings and husband, Lonnie of Flintville; Bonnie Baker and husband, David of Belvidere; and Linda Barnes and husband, Ricky of Cowan, TN and numerous cousins and loving friends.
