2/1/13 — Wendell Haggard

Funeral services for Mr. Wendell Haggard, age 76, of Manchester will be conducted Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Mr. Fred Kellers and Pastor Linda Rex officiating.

Interment will follow at Ragsdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Haggard passed away Tuesday at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 17, 1936 in the Asbury community of Coffee County, the son of the late William Adolphus Haggard and Mary Della Farrar Haggard.

He married the love of his life, Linda Taylor September 21, 1962.  Wendell greatly enjoyed working as a machinist with Cubic Transportation Systems where he was employed for over 18 years.  He retired in April of 2005.  He was a talented person who enjoyed making things with his hands.  Whether working with wood or metal, he was known to have crafted many special items such as hand carved wood bowls. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with his wife and friends.  Wendell was a member of Grace Communion International and a United States Army veteran.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Louis, Woodrow, Raymond and Leo Haggard.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Taylor Haggard of Manchester; four children, Eric Haggard of Manchester; Tim Haggard and wife, Debbie of Murfreesboro; David Haggard of Murfreesboro; “Dee Dee” Della Haggard Bittner and husband, Andrew of Antioch, TN; three granddaughters, Autumn, Lynden and Lily Haggard and two grandsons, Wesley Haggard and Chase Bittner.  Also surviving are three sisters, Geraldean Elrod and Ruth Peek of Manchester and Jean Brown of Elkhart, IN; sisters-in-law, Edith Haggard of Manchester and Charlotte Haggard of Elkhart, IN and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
