Eugenia Meredith Smith, age 88, of Manchester, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at United Regional Health Center in Manchester.
Mrs. Smith was born on February 24, 1924 in Coffee County Tennessee to the late Walter Pyce Meredith and Grady Hickerson Meredith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Perry Warren Smith in 2010 and her brothers Walter, Bill and Floyd Meredith, her sister Barbara Rigney Meredith and a grandson Brian Edward Schneider.
Mrs. Smith attended school in Manchester before marrying her husband in 1946. They moved to Nashville, Tennessee where they lived for 48 years before moving to Manchester in 1994. Mrs. Smith retired from AIE, a Division of Vernitron Corporation. She was member of Red Hill Church of Christ in Manchester and a resident at McArthur Manor.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Freda and Ken Schneider of Clarkesville, GA; son, Perry W. Smith, Jr. of Mt. Juliet, TN; three grandchildren, Kara and Shane Clark of Gainesville, GA; Kevin and Ashley Smith of Mt. Juliet, TN; Kyle and Lindsey Smith of Mt. Juliet, TN; and five great grandchildren, Callie, Buddy, Austin, Lawson and Piper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Pat Meredith of Winchester, TN; Phillip and Peggy Meredith of Section, AL; her brother-in-law, Joe Rigney of Woodbury, TN; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Mrs. Smith loved the staff at McArthur Manor and thought of them as part of her extended family.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
The funeral service will be conducted following the visitation at 12:00 pm from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Brother Ralph Hart and Brother Chuck Taylor officiating.
Burial will follow at the Midway Church of Christ Cemetery in Cannon County TN.
