Don’t Text While Driving

Some Coffee Countians have not gotten the word that it is illegal to text and drive. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, in 2012 four individuals were ticketed for texting as compared to five in 2011. The THP figures show that in 2011 there were 179 tickets issued statewide and 380 in 2012. So far this year there have been 21 citations issued across the state. The THP notes that texting while driving distracts the driver’s attention away from the roadway and onto the sending the text.
