Motlow Drops Doubleheader

The Motlow basketball teams traveled to Gallatin on Saturday for TCCAA action against Vol St. In women’s play the Lady Bucks grabbed a 1 point lead on the 14-1 Lady Pioneers at halftime 22-21. Once the 2nd half began Vol St got it rolling going on an 18-0 run and holding Motlow scoreless for over 8 minutes. The Lady Pioneers went onto win 67-35.
The Lady Bucks were led in scoring by Presley Owen and LeKera Taylor with 8 points each. Motlow is now 2-8 in the TCCAA and 4-12 overall.

In men’s play Vol St came out fired up against the 26th nationally ranked Bucks. The Pioneers held a 6 point lead at halftime (52-46) in front of a very vocal crowd. Motlow would fight back from 10 down to take a 1 point advantage late in the game but Vol St would not go down for long as they pulled off the upset 88-85 win. The loss was the Bucks first defeat in TCCAA play this season falling to 9-1 in conference play and 14-3 overall.
Motlow was led in scoring by D.J. Jones with 15 with Perrin Buford and Chris Hawkins adding 14 each.
Motlow will host Chattanooga St on Friday and Cleveland St on Saturday for Homecoming.
