The cost of mailing a letter has gone up again, after less than a year at 44 cents. As of yesterday, the U.S. Postal Service’s latest rate hike on first class postage stamps went into effect. This increase comes at a time when fewer people are using the U.S. Postal Service. The rate increase is expected to be worth nearly a billion dollars for the Postal Service, which lost more than $5 billion last year. In addition to the price of a stamp going up 1 cent, sending a postcard now will cost people 3 cents more.
