Funeral Services for Mr. Gary C. Mercer, age 68 of Manchester, Tennessee will be conducted Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the St. Mark Catholic Church with Father Stephen Klasek officiating.
Gary passed from this life Thursday, January 24, 2013 in Manchester, Tennessee.
Gary was born September 11, 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of the late Bev Mercer and Frances Miller.
He was a devoted Catholic his entire life. Gary was a giving and generous man who spent much of his life caring for others. He was a grizzly bear on the outside but a teddy bear on inside. The most important thing in his life was his family. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Vietnam era.
In addition to his parents, he was greeted in heaven by his step-father, John Miller, two sisters, Shirley Cobb and Beverly Taylor, two brothers, Bud Mercer and Don Mercer.
Gary is survived by his two sisters, Sally Bishop and husband, Bill of Atlanta, Georgia; and Sandy Shasteen and husband, Ed of Winchester, TN; eight nieces, nine nephews, and numerous great nieces, great nephews, and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the St. Mark Catholic Church, Manchester, TN.
