After receiving 16 applicants for the position of Emergency Medical Service director to replace John Cathey, who recently announced his retirement, the Coffee County Ambulance Authority offered the job to Scott James Cooper of Manhattan, Kansas, during a Tuesday meeting.
He is currently serving as assistant fire chief of Riley County Fire District in Kansas, He has served as a paramedic for 24 years and firefighter for 26 years, specializing in emergency medical and first responder services. According to county officials, Cooper is expected to start in the first part of February.
