Raiders Sweep Cats

It was rivalry basketball night at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday night as Tullahoma visited Coffee County in a spirited basketball doubleheader. Before a near capacity crowd at “The Patch”, seniors Alaina Lusk and Ginny Clayborne combined for 41 points as the Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Cats by a score of 65 to 49. The Lady Raiders led from their opening possession and held off several Tullahoma rallies in the 2nd half to earn the series sweep over their neighborly rivals. Coffee County was led in scoring by Lusk who netted 23 points while Clayborne added 18 points as Coffee dominated the action in the paint. The high scoring, senior duo were named the Gateway Tire and Service Center’s Co-Players of the Game. With the win, the Lady Raiders improved their season record to 10 and 11 on the year.

In the boy’s game, Coffee County got 21 points in the 4th quarter to erase a 7 point deficit and earn the Red Raiders a HUGE 47 to 44 win over the Cats. The win snapped a 9 game Tullahoma winning streak and earned Coffee County a season split in the rivalry. Coffee County took their first lead of the night with 2:15 remaining in the game on an Al White Motors free throw by senior Lake Elam. Coffee County got a huge 4th quarter from Elam as he scored 7 of his 10 points in the pivotal 4th frame. Anthony Jackson also finished the night with 10 points including 5 points in the 4th quarter. Coffee County was led in scoring by Lance Crismond as he scored 14 points before fouling out midway of the 4th quarter. For his 4th quarter heroics, Lake Elam was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game. With the win, Coffee County improved to 8 and 12 on the year.

The Raiders travel to Sparta on Tuesday night to take on White County in a big District 6AAA doubleheader. The girl’s game will tip off at 6 PM and our broadcast begins with the Lawrence Family Motors pregame show begins at 5:50 here on Thunder Radio.
