RUTH ELIZABETH NORWOOD, age 96, departed this life peacefully Sunday evening, January 13, 2013 at her home in Estill Springs, Tenn., surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Simeon Whipple Ames and Gladys Belle Stewart Ames of Gurnee, Ill. She married Lloyd D. Norwood in August, 1942 in Rossville, Ga. They lived on the family farm in Gurnee, Ill. until 1978 when the family moved to Estill Springs, at which time she retired from Victory Memorial Hospital where she was an EKG Supervisor. She attended Stafford School, graduated from Warren Township High School and was a member of the Gurnee Community Church. She was a member of the first 4-H club in Lake County (The Fair and Square Club), which was started by her mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Norwood and infant son, Gary Lee Norwood. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda (Greg) Grover of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, son, Kent (Patricia) Norwood of Estill Springs, Tenn., grandchildren; Steven Howlett of LaQuinta, Ca., Brian (Jennifer) Norwood of Decherd, Tenn., Shannon (David) Hatmaker of Winter Haven, Fla, Crystal Overman of Estill Springs, Tenn., Jason (Elizabeth) Adcock of Tullahoma, Tenn., and 8-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Ms. Norwood is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2013 until Service time at 2:00 in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. Ray Gardner, officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial
Gardens.
