Shona Lesley Kesey reported to Tullahoma Police Officer Kevin Smith that she went Amazing Smiles Dentistry located on North Jackson Street for new dentures. Kesey stated that after paying for the new dentures, an individual, whom she identified as Mr. Richardson, made dental impressions of her teeth and she left with plans to come back and get new teeth. More People Receive Graphic Text Messages

cell phoneCoffee, Franklin and Rutherford County authorities have an unusual case on their hands. We first reported this story last week and now we are hearing reports from two other counties. Lawmen have been investigating numerous cases of sexual phone harassment. The person sending the text is sending sexually oriented material to the women. “We have had reports of several women receiving the text very graphic text pictures,” Franklin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Guess stated Wednesday. “Investigators are concerned that some juveniles could end up receiving some of the text.”
Police say the harassment is originating from 931-434-8489.
Police say have had several reports but think there are more women who have received the graphic texts and who have not notified police about it.
Police asked that if anyone has received the inappropriate text and or picture messages to notify police or deputies about the graphic text.

Good News For ATA

ATAAerospace Testing Alliance (ATA) announced some good news this week – the company will rehire many of the employees who were reduced-in-force (RIF).
ATA, the prime contractor at Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC), reduced staffing by 170 people in April. Now the company will try and rehire about 100 of those involuntarily reduced.
The jobs are being restored after the Air Force was able to secure additional funding for the contractor and the test workload improved and stabilized.
AEDC has some unique, one-of-a-kind facilities needed for ground testing. During the last year, both the contractor and government workforce have been aggressively marketing and it seems to be paying dividends.
Sequestration, federal budget cuts and testing that was canceled or delayed forced the ATA reductions… the largest since the company was formed in 2003.
ATA is thankful for the improved situation and the tremendous outpouring of support from area leaders, federal and state officials and the Arnold Community Council. ATA continues to work with these groups to try and assist those still impacted by the reduced-in-force (RIF).

Tennessee Improves Grade For Women’s Health

StethoscopeThe overall health of women in the state has improved to a grade of C, according to the Tennessee Women’s Health Report Card.
The biannual report looks at data on reproductive health, leading causes of death, modifiable risk behaviors, preventive health practices and barriers to health. In 2011, the report card gave women’s health a grade of D.
Areas of concern include the percentage of women who smoke during pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, breast and cervical cancers in black women, heart disease and stroke deaths and the percentage of white women with modifiable risk behaviors.
One big bright spot is a 25 percent decrease in Tennessee’s infant mortality rate. It dropped from 16.8 per 1,000 live births to 12.8 over a five-year span.
The report card is a project between the Tennessee Department of Health, Vanderbilt Institute for Medicine and Public Health, Meharry Medical College, East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Bullying Is Hot Topic In Coffee County

no_bullyingCoffee County parents hoping to have an open discussion with school officials about bullying were not allowed to speak at the school board meeting Monday afternoon.
A few dozen parents and students filled the school board meeting space, some wearing purple shirts, others carrying signs, both with messages of anti-bullying.
Before board members concluded the meeting, several parents spoke up and asked to discuss bullying.
They were told the topic could not be discussed because proper procedure to be part of the agenda was not followed.
The meeting was then adjourned without further discussion.
Parents were asked to submit proper notice to be part of the regularly scheduled meeting in June.
In a related issue, last week, Beronica Dinovo a student at Coffee County Central High School was allegedly attacked in the hallway of the school. The incident was caught on tape.
Dinovo told WKRN-TV a fellow female student has bullied her since seventh grade.
The alleged attacker, unidentified because she is a juvenile, was reportedly disciplined by the school. John Bush principal at the school said he could not speak on the action taken.
The county has funded a nationally-recognized anti-bullying program, to be implemented next year.
Following Monday’s school board meeting, parents and students marched from the administrative offices to Coffee County Middle School to call attention to bullying. It ended with a candlelight vigil in honor a student that recently passed away.
