Celebrate “Your State Parks Day” At Cloudland Canyon on September 28, 2013
On Saturday, September 28, all ages are invited to enjoy the incredible scenic wonders of Cloudland Canyon State Park during the 2013 “Your State Parks Day.” With FREE admission all day and activities for all ages, this will be a great time to enjoy one of Georgia’s most popular state parks.
The reason for this special day is to invite volunteers to come and join the team that helps maintain the park. Budgets for parks have been cut over 50% and volunteers are critical for the proper maintenance and support of the park. Some of the volunteer opportunities are listed here.
Volunteer opportunities for trail maintenance: There will be light duty trail pruning and clean-up available on several trails throughout the park led by FOCCSP Trail Crew Members.
Volunteer opportunities in landscaping and gardening: There will be FOCCSP volunteers to lead raking, pruning and weeding the garden areas around the front office and Interpretive Center.
Volunteer opportunities for organizing in the Interpretive Center: The Park Naturalist will have opportunities to help in the Interpretive Center in working with organizing the library area, and helping her with some administrative duties as well as helping with visitors in interpretation of the park amenities.
Volunteer opportunities to help spruce up our park: There will be opportunities for cleaning of our park picnic shelters, and touch-up painting to our park entry signs.
