Get Fit! Tullahoma Committee member, Molly Gupta, has worked with pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk to host a free diabetes seminar. Tonya Swoape, Certified Diabetes Educator, will be the featured speaker. She will include an overview of diabetes, management of diabetes, tips for a healthy diet and staying active. Swoape will also be available to answer questions.
The Diabetes Academy will be Tuesday, October 29 from 4-5pm at Harton Regional Medical Center’s private dining room.
“Since starting the Get Fit! Tullahoma initiative, it is becoming apparent the crisis we have in our community,” said Mayor Lane Curlee. “We want to help change these grim statistics, and this is one opportunity to learn more about diabetes – how to avoid, recognize, and manage the disease state.”
“It is extremely important to educate people about the help that is available,” agreed Tonya Swoape, CDE.
All are welcome, including those at-risk of diabetes, pre-diabetics, and diabetics. Join us for this valuable opportunity.
