Soap Box Derby
The Tullahoma Parks and Recreation department will host its annual Soap Box Derby, Saturday, June 2nd , on West Lincoln Street . This year, the 13th annual Tullahoma Soap Box Derby will again have the Super Kids Division, that allows children with disabilities to experience the Soap Box race firsthand. This will be our third year for providing children with disabilities an opportunity to experience the thrill of the hill.
More than 60 boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 17 are ready to compete for a berth in the 75th All-American Soap Box Derby to be held in Akron , Ohio in July. The winner of each division in the Tullahoma race will advance to the Akron race where they will vie for top honors with an international title.
During the week leading up to the Derby, the drivers and their crews will be busily preparing for final inspection of their cars, after which time the cars are “impounded” until the June 2nd race.
This free admission race is sponsored by the Tullahoma Parks and Recreation Department.
