Old Stone Fort State Park Weekend Activities
11:00 a.m.- Scenic Waterfalls of Old Stone Fort= Old Stone Fort’s ceremonial enclosure is surrounded by breathtaking waterfalls. Meet at the park museum where we will hike to the Blue Hole Falls and the Big Falls to view two of the possible reasons Native Americans chose this site to hold their sacred ceremonies thousands of years ago.
1:30 p.m.- Mysteries of the Ancient Architects= Meet at the park museum to view this video that explores the mysteries and grand scale construction of enormous earthworks by the Native American “Hopewell Culture”.
2:30 p.m.- Atlatl Demonstration= Join us at the museum lawn for this interactive demonstration of what Native Americans used to hunt large game for the 10,000 years before the introduction of the bow and arrow.
3:30 p.m.- Bird Bingo= Everyday we see and hear birds all around us, but how well do we know them? Meet at the park museum and test your knowledge of our winged friends in an exciting game of bird bingo!
