9:30 a.m.- Lost in Time= Join us at the park museum for a viewing of this video. This film discusses ancient cultures throughout time. Beginning with the last ice age, the story explores cultural change up through the Mississippian period.
10:30 a.m.- Ancient Indian Enclosure Tour= Meet at the park museum’s front desk to set off on a hike along the Enclosure Wall Trail of this ancient Native American ceremonial site. Be sure to bring plenty of water.
1:15 p.m.- What’s this Artifact?= Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an archaeologist? Join us at the park museum to try to figure out what some different artifacts may be and what their functions might have been. Everyone feel free to bring an item of your own to make this activity even more challenging!
2:30 p.m.- Ancient Technology= Long before the introduction of the bow and arrow, Native Americans had developed and successfully hunted large game with the atlatl or spear thrower. Join us at the park museum lawn to learn about this ancient technology and try your hand at spear throwing with the atlatl!
3:30 p.m.- Making Fire without Fuel= Before the luxury of matches and lighters, Native Americans were making fire with only wood and strength. Join us at the museum lawn for a demonstration of this ancient technique.
