10:30 a.m.- What is The Old Stone Fort?= Join us at the park museum where we will begin our tour of the Old Stone Fort. As we hike, learn the mysticism and symbolism of this ancient Native American ceremonial site. Be sure to bring plenty of water!
2:20 p.m.- The Native Plant Garden Tour= Can you tell the difference between native plants and foreign invasive plants? Meet us at the front desk of the museum to view our native plant garden and learn the importance of native plants and their benefits.
2:45 p.m.- Prehistoric Technology: The Atlatl= Long before the introduction of the bow and arrow in North America, Native Americans were successfully hunting large game with the spear thrower or atlatl. Meet at the front lawn of the museum to view a live demonstration of the atlatl. Then, if you are brave enough, try your hand at this prehistoric technology.
3:30 p.m.- Discover Meaning with Our State Symbols= Join us at the park museum to learn the meanings of the Tulip Poplar, Iris, and Passionflower, our state symbols, and what they stand for. Then, see if you can answer the question: “What do I stand for?”
