National Trails Day
10:30 a.m.– 1p.m.= Hike and Help: Meet at the park museum’s front desk to begin a 1 1/4 mile hike around this 2000 year old Native American ceremonial enclosure known as the Old Stone Fort. As we hike, you can partici-pate in a litter pick-up to help keep the trails beautiful.
3:00p.m.-3:30p.m.= Spear Throwing with the Atlatl: Long before the introduction of the bow and arrow, Native Americans used the Atlatl, or spear thrower, to hunt large game. Come out and join us at the museum’s front lawn for a chance to experience this prehistoric technology.
3:30p.m.– 4:00p.m.= Blowgun Demonstration: One of the keys to survival for the Native Americans was not only hunt-ing large game but small game as well. Join us at the front desk of the museum and learn how the Native Americans developed and used the blowgun.
